Key Stage 4 marks the start of accredited courses which will form the foundation to your child’s future career path. At the end of Year 11 all students will have gained nationally recognised qualifications and it is our aim as a ‘Federation For Every Future’ to ensure that each student reaches their full potential. The choice of subjects and courses which your child wishes to pursue at Key Stage 4 is the start of this process.

One of the benefits of being a Federation is that we can offer a greater range of courses to our students which as individual schools we would be unable to do. Wehave developed a curriculum to meet the needs of the full range of students and provide a range of appropriate accreditation, including vocational programmes to complement GCSE courses.

A number of subjects are compulsory for all students.  So that we provide you with a complete guide to the your child’s curriculum at Key Stage 4, details of these courses are also contained within this booklet.  Although the large majority of time will be spent at the home school site,  Option Subjects may take place on any of the Federation School site to make use of the specialist staff and facilities available.  You will be notified of the location of all courses when you receive your child’s option choices after Easter.

In the last few years, the Government has introduced the ‘English Baccalaureate’ award.  Students who gain a grade C or above in English Language, Mathematics, Science, a Humanities subject and a Modern Foreign Language would be awarded the EBacc.  Our options system allows students to choose whether to follow this route and gives them an opportunity to choose from a range of other subjects.
